Congressional and Gubernatorial Races
All 435 seats in the US House of Representatives are up for election. Currently, the Republicans hold a majority with 218 deputies, while Democrats hold 214 seats and one independent. Observers, including J. Miles Coleman of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, have noted that "It would be a surprise if the Democrats don't at least take the House [of Representatives]."
In the Senate, there are 100 seats, with 35 up for election this year. The current composition includes 53 Republicans, 45 Democrats, and two independent senators who typically vote with the Democrats. To gain a majority, Democrats require a net gain of four seats.
Additionally, voters in 36 states are electing governors. In Minnesota, Democrat Amy Klobuchar is running against Republican Lisa DeMuth. In Georgia, Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms is running against Republican Rick Jackson.
