Background and Previous Roles
Zacharia would succeed Karoline Leavitt, who left the Trump administration in late August. According to The New York Post, Leavitt left the job to spend more time with her family following the birth of her second child on May 1.
Zacharia has a background in Republican politics and federal communications. She interned for the Republican National Committee while attending Pepperdine University and worked in the White House Office of Political Affairs during George W. Bush’s second term. Earlier this year, she spent about three months as a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security. She left the agency after Markwayne Mullin took over as secretary in March. While at DHS, she was reported to be close to then-Secretary Kristi Noem and her special adviser Corey Lewandowski.
Currently, Zacharia serves as a senior communications adviser for Truth Social, President Donald Trump's social media company. She is also associated with Fix California, an organization founded by Trump special envoy Ric Grenell that focuses on advancing the conservative agenda in California.
