Details of the Attack
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the strikes occurred in two waves. He said, “The Russians struck first just as people were arriving – a few aerial bombs,” followed by a second strike on the shelter. Zelenskyy described the event as a “vile terrorist strike” and an “extremely horrific” attack. He accused Russia of launching the strike despite knowing the location was used for humanitarian purposes, noting that residents gather there weekly to collect humanitarian packages.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS), the death toll rose as rescue efforts progressed. The confirmed fatalities include four Ukrainian police officers maintaining order at the site and two firefighters who arrived following the initial wave of attacks. As of early November 3, 2026, 27 people remained missing. Additionally, five people were reported injured, including two rescue workers.
Mykhailo Semikin, a military official in Zaporizhzhia, stated that Russian forces fired nine FAB-3000 guided aerial bombs at the Komysuvaha residential area. Semikin also noted that rescue efforts on Monday evening were hindered by additional attacks from Russian drones in the area.
