Missile Launches and Diplomatic Tension
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said it detected the launches of several missiles fired toward North Korea’s eastern waters. South Korean and U.S. authorities are currently analyzing the details of these launches. The military stated that it maintains a readiness to repel any potential provocations by North Korea.
This military activity follows a statement from North Korean senior official Kim Yo Jong, the sister of leader Kim Jong Un, in which she disputed an FBI announcement. The FBI had attributed a recent hack at Binance to North Korean hackers, specifically a group known as TraderTraitor. Kim Yo Jong called the announcement "a trite provocation" and described it as "an extension of Washington’s invariable hostile policy toward" Pyongyang.
Regarding future diplomatic relations, Kim Yo Jong stated, "It is our clear stand that we have no need to sit face to face with such unreliable and hostile persons." She added, "The choice for peace includes dialogue of course, but this is not surely equated with national interests for us."
