Defensive Impact and Seattle's Struggles
Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, who was acquired from Tennessee last week for a package including two first-round picks, made his first appearance for the Bears during the contest. Simmons recorded six tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, and a pass defensed. The Bears' defense held Seattle to 252 total yards and limited them to one third-down conversion on 11 attempts.
Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold completed 17 of 34 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns. One touchdown was a 7-yard pass to Cooper Kupp following a fumble forced by DeMarcus Lawrence on Colston Loveland. Darnold's other touchdown was a 43-yard pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba just before the end of the second quarter. An interception by James Lynch in the fourth quarter set up one of Swift's touchdown runs.
