Bedard’s Return and Performance
Bedard, 21, made his first appearance since undergoing surgery on his left shoulder on July 8. The injury occurred during a training session in Western Canada, and the team initially expected him to be sidelined for approximately four months. He participated in two full practices on Sunday and Monday before the game.
Playing on the top line with Patrick Kane and Roman Kantserov, Bedard skated for more than 21 minutes. He had three shots on goal and was 6 for 14 on face-offs. His primary assist came on a power-play goal by Kantserov with 2:10 left in the first period.
"Just to be back out there, it's what I live for," Bedard said. "And it was just so much fun."
Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill praised Bedard's effort. "Overall, like to miss what he’s missed and to be able to come out and play that well is pretty impressive," Blashill said. "Connor put an incredible amount of work to come back as quick as he did."
